What is 3D Secure?
3D Secure is an extra security step that helps protect your payment card when making deposits online. It verifies that the cardholder is the one authorizing the transaction. This is the same technology used by major banks and retailers worldwide, branded as Visa Secure, Mastercard SecureCode, or American Express SafeKey.
When does 3DS Verification happen?
You may see a 3DS verification prompt when making a deposit using a credit or debit card on theScore Bet. This applies to card deposits and certain transactions that require additional verification for your protection.
One thing to note, not every deposit will trigger a verification prompt. In many cases, your bank may approve the transaction automatically in the background without any extra steps from you. If additional verification is needed, you will see a pop-up within the app.
Is 3D Secure for both US & CA users?
US players: It is a standard security measure used by Visa, Mastercard, and American Express to protect your card when making online transactions. Your bank controls the verification process, and the specific method (text code, app notification, or biometric) depends on your bank.
Canadian players: The experience in theScore Bet works the same way as verifying any other online purchase with your card.
What will I see when the 3DS Verification triggers?
- Players can enter their card details and deposit amount as usual.
- A pop-up window appears within the app. This is from your bank (not from theScore Bet). It may ask you to verify your identity.
- Your bank will ask you to verify using one of these methods:
- A one-time passcode (OTP) sent via text message to the phone number on file with your bank
- A push notification to your banking app for approval
- Biometric verification (fingerprint or face recognition) through your banking app
- Once verified, the pop-up closes, and your deposit continues to process.
The verification pop-up is legitimate and comes directly from your card issuer (your bank). It is not a scam or phishing attempt.
What happens if I never get my one-time passcode (OTP)?
Please check that the phone number on file with your bank is current. The code is sent to the number your bank has, not the number on your theScore Bet account. Wait up to 60 seconds as codes can sometimes be delayed due to network conditions.
Check your text messages (not your email) unless your bank uses app-based notifications. If you recently changed your phone number or carrier, there may be a temporary delay in receiving text messages. Contact your bank to confirm your number is up to date.
What happens if my deposit was declined after the 3DS Verification?
A 3DS verification can succeed, but the deposit may still be declined by your bank for other reasons (insufficient funds, daily spending limits, or your bank's own fraud rules for gaming transactions). Please try again or use an alternative deposit method (PayPal, bank transfer, etc.).
I entered the correct code, but my verification still failed.
One-time codes expire quickly (typically 2-5 minutes). If the code expires before you enter it, request a new one. Double-check that you are entering the most recent code received. If you received multiple codes, only the latest one will work.
If the issue persists, contact your bank to ensure your card is enrolled in 3D Secure and that there are no holds or restrictions on your account.
